Skateistan is an award-winning non-profit organization which empowers children through skateboarding and education in Afghanistan, Cambodia and South Africa. By combining skateboarding with creative, arts-based education, they give children the opportunity to become leaders for a better world. Skateistan focus on groups who are often excluded from sports and educational opportunities, especially girls, children living with disabilities and those from low-income backgrounds. They provide safe spaces where children can have fun, build their skills and confidence and break down social barriers by making new friends.

The late Elaine Shallcross was diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago. After some rounds of promising chemotherapy treatments in 2019, the cancer had spread to her lymph nodes. To raise funds for breast cancer research Elaine who was 68 years young at the time, set off to learn a "shuvit" by uploading continual updates to her instagram page @shuvitcancer.
